Getting Your Home Ready For Winter
Test Your Heating Before Winter
As we gear up for winter, it's a great time to give your heating system a test run before the colder weather arrives. This proactive step can help you identify and address any issues ahead of time.
To test your heating, ensure the heating programmer is turned on and increase the set temperature to high (28°C for example). This should result in the heating system being activated. Remember, if you have underfloor heating, it can take up to 4 hours to heat up dependent.
If this hasn’t worked, please click this link to report an issue to our team. We will ask a few simple questions to diagnose what the problem might be and help to get your system working before winter arrives.
Please note that LOKA Energy are responsible for the heat supply up to and including your Heat Interface Unit (HIU). If you encounter any concerns or issues concerning your Tertiary Network—comprising elements like mixer taps, radiators, and underfloor heating it is recommended to seek assistance from an independent plumber or your building management team, if applicable.
Helpful energy saving tips
Master Your Heating Controls: Knowing how to use the heating programmer and thermostat can help ensure your home is heated efficiently. Don’t forget to turn it on and check the batteries work!
Consider reducing your thermostat by just one degree as this can lead to a decrease in consumption. Think also about when you are at home to try to make sure your heating system is off when you don’t need it.
Layer Up and Block Draughts: Before reaching for the thermostat, simple measures such as closing doors and curtains can retain heat efficiently. To tackle draughts, consider installing thick curtains and using draught excluders or seals around windows and doors.
